Welcome to the High School Counselor's Corner

My name is Mrs. Jordi Miller. This is my third year of counseling with Southwest High School. I previously was a HS Counselor at Cassville School District. I look forward to working with HS students and prepare them for college or a career.

Confidentiality

I hold my job to the highest standards and with utmost respect for confidentiality of students and their families.

Expectations:

  • What you say to me stays with me.

  • UNLESS:

    • Someone is hurting you

    • You want to hurt someone

    • You want to hurt yourself

American School Counselor Position - School counselors recognize their primary obligation for confidentiality is to the student but balance that obligation with an understanding of the family's or guardians' legal and inherent rights to be the guiding voice in their children's lives. (ASCA Code of Ethics, 2010, A.2.d)
